Shopping basket error leaves customers praising the idea

A chef made a mistake when she went to grab a shopping basket at her local Coles. But now the error has sparked demand for her accidental invention.

Woman’s trolley mistake

A chef’s mistake at the supermarket has led to a movement of people demanding shopping baskets on wheels.

Chef Nagi Maehashi, who runs the RecipeTin Eats platform, was at her local Coles to pick up some bread and chips when she grabbed a basket.

To her surprise, the basket had wheels, prompting her to whip out her phone to praise the supermarket giant.

But, on her way out, she realised it was in fact where the baskets were kept in the store so that they could be easily moved around by staff.

“This is not a joke,” the chef posted alongside the video.

“I was seriously so impressed with the wheely baskets I took that video and sent it to a friend, praising @colessupermarkets for such innovation.”

But, her mistake led to people demanding that Coles make this a reality.

“You’re so funny. Although you definitely need to sell this idea to them,” one social media used commented.

Another added: “It might give them ideas.”

Others revealed that this was an option in other parts of the world such as the United Kingdom and Europe.

One said: “Wheely baskets have been in the UK for such a long time. I missed them during my time in Aus!”

Another added: “Here in US, I know Walgreens has wheelable carts as well. Hope more shops are getting on board.”

One former Coles worker revealed shoppers made the same mistake all the time, while the supermarket itself responded on the post: “Wheely easy mistake to make.”

Others revealed they had done the exact same thing.
