Ahmad Hasan Fahiz Moosafeer, who recently arrived in Australia from Mauritius on a student visa, was confronted on A Current Affair on Monday night, asked by reporter Sam Cucchiara if he was a “wedding weasel”.

Cucchiara repeatedly questioned Mr Moosafeer over whether he “loves to attend a good wedding”, to which he responded “no”, denying that he’d “stolen” from any events.

Police have charged Mr Moosafeer with taking money, jewellery and gift cards from wishing wells at eight Melbourne nuptials between April 2 and May 22 this year, alleging he snuck into couple’s receptions and mingled with guests before stealing.

Newlyweds Kellee and Adrian Pace said his actions had put a “dampener” on the “happiest day of their lives”.

“We felt really violated and I just cried for hours, because I just couldn’t believe it happened,” Ms Pace, a healthcare worker, told the program.

She added that she didn’t realise they’d been targeted until they began reading their wedding cards and noticed several missing.

“We looked through and realised there were only 20 cards for 150 guests at our wedding,” she said.

CCTV footage from the venue allegedly showed Mr Moosafeer moving about the venue, holding a stack of doughnuts.

Ms Pace alleged that he even wrote in the couple’s guest book that he was “feeling awesome and lucky”.

Another groom, Jake Boscariol, told ACA his May 21 wedding was also allegedly gatecrashed by Mr Moosafeer, though luckily nothing was taken.

“It’s just a warning to other couples that are planning to get married, that you have to be cautious of that and you shouldn’t have to feel like that on a special night,” he said.

Police searched Mr Moosafeer’s Carlton home on May 24, allegedly recovering chopped-up wedding cards, gift cards and jewellery.

He was arrested and charged with 27 offences, including aggravated burglary, burglary, theft and going equipped to steal.
