Schoolboy raped by teacher to become a granddad at just 40
The 12-year-old who married his abuser and had two children with her is set to become a grandfather as the famous case takes a new turn.
The schoolboy who was raped by his teacher before marrying and having two children with her is set to become a grandfather at 40 years old.
Mary Kay Letourneau was 34 when she was convicted of raping Vili Fualaau as a 12-year-old child.
Mr Fualaau was just 13 when Letourneau gave birth to their first child, Audrey.
She welcomed their second daughter Georgia while serving jail time for the sexual abuse.
After her release, the pair tied the knot in 2005.
Despite their highly controversial relationship, Mr Fualaau and Letourneau – who have a 22-year age gap – were married until late 2019.
Mr Fualaau was even at his then ex-wife’s bedside when she died from cancer, aged 58, in July 2020.
Now, their youngest daughter Georgia, 24, is due to give birth to a baby boy in January.
Audrey recently posted a tender snap from the baby shower which showed her kissing Georgia’s blossoming baby bump.
“Words cannot explain how excited I am for my little sister to have this baby boy,” the 26-year-old captioned the snap.
“[Georgia] you’re going to be such an amazing mum! Can’t wait to help raise the little cutie pie.”
The excited mum-to-be has also reportedly announced the pregnancy on her own private Instagram account, the Daily Mail states.
The post read: “New parents coming soon…”
Another post reportedly seen by the publication shows a photo of Georgia in a black tank top and underwear, holding her belly as her husband stands alongside her.
It read: “22 weeks with my sweet boy. Wanted to do a halfway mark but this is close enough! Cried this morning talking to my son about how much love I feel for him already. I love you my baby boy.”
Mr Fualaau, who welcomed a baby girl called Sophia with an unknown new partner in November, doesn’t appear in any of the snaps.
Sex abuse case that shocked the world
Letourneau’s abuse of Mr Fualaau made headlines in the late 1990s, with salacious details of the abuse — then labelled an “affair” — beamed around the world.
Letourneau had been a married mother-of-four when she met Mr Fualaau, then a student in her class.
She was arrested in March 1997 after a relative of her husband Steve tipped off police about the abuse.
Letourneau gave birth to Mr Fualaau’s daughter Audrey in May that year.
Initially sentenced to just six months in jail and ordered not to see Mr Fualaau, Letourneau was caught having sex with the teen boy in a car a month after her release in 1998.
She was sent back to prison, by which point she was pregnant with Mr Fualaau’s second child, resulting in her giving birth while behind bars.
After serving her second jail sentence Mr Fualaau and Letourneau wed in 2005, however, he had to get an order barring her from contacting him lifted before they were able to walk down the aisle.
