Prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu accused of sex with inmate in jail video faces court
A female prison guard accused of having sex with an inmate in a viral video has faced court after being arrested in London while trying to catch a flight to Madrid.
A prison officer has appeared in court accused of having sex with an inmate in an X-rated video filmed in a jail cell.
Linda De Sousa Abreu was held after the clip shot in Wandsworth Prison, in southwest London, was widely shared on social media.
The 30-year-old appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today charged with misconduct in public office.
She spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and address during the hearing.
The court was told De Sousa Abreu was arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport where she was due to catch a flight to Madrid, The Sun reports.
She had notified the prison of her travel plans, it was said.
The mum was bailed on the condition she does not enter any UK travel ports and will be subject to a curfew between 7pm and 9am.
She will next appear at Isleworth Crown Court on July 29 for a plea hearing.
The charge states that, between June 26 and 28, the prison officer “wilfully and without reasonable excuse or justification misconducted yourself in a way which amounted to an abuse of the public’s trust in the office holder by engaging in a sexual act with a Prisoner in a prison cell”.
The Met Police launched an investigation on Friday “after officers were made aware of a video allegedly filmed inside HMP Wandsworth”.
It showed a prison officer having sex with an inmate.
De Sousa Abreu was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office the same day.
The married woman is originally from Brazil and shares an OnlyFans account with her husband.
A Prison Service spokesman said: “Staff corruption is not tolerated and the former prison officer allegedly featured in this video has been reported to the police.
“It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.”
