‘Poorly thought out’: Influencer Jade Tunchy apologises for saga

After weeks of drama, influencer Jade Tunchy has issued an apology to her thousands of followers for her “poorly thought out” actions.

Influencer Jade Tuncdoruk slammed for ‘demanding’ honeymoon refund

After a weeks-long saga, Sydney-based influencer Jade Tuncdoruk has apologised to her almost 500,000 followers for her “poorly thought out” actions.

Tuncdoruk found herself in hot water last week after she accused a small-business owner of “theft” and threatened to take him to Fair Trading when he refused to offer her a full refund on her honeymoon stay.

Anonymous influencer watchdog Celeb Spellcheck accused the fashion blogger of weaponising her audience to leverage a refund from the small business, despite the fact she wasn’t entitled to one.

Days later she was further lambasted when racist comments she had made about her past UberEats drivers resurfaced on Instagram.

She apologised last Friday for her “hurtful comments”, in which she complained about UberEats’ “annoying non-English speaking delivery drivers”.

On Thursday, Tuncdoruk’s management, Sydney-based influencer agency MAXCONNECTERS, told The Daily Telegraph her position was “under review”.

Now, the 26-year-old has again taken to Instagram in a bid to put the saga to bed once and for all.

“Hello everyone. I just wanted to say that I’m sorry for the way I’ve conducted myself recently. I’m aware that my actions were poorly thought out and lack integrity. I want everyone to know that I hold myself to a higher standard than this,” she wrote.

“I’ve made it my priority to re-evaluate the aspects of my life that may have lead to the disconnect between my soul and my actions.

“I am sorry to anyone I’ve let down, including myself.”

The drama began when, in a series of now deleted posts, the 26-year-old said she cancelled her Hunter Valley honeymoon at Weekenda with fiance Lachie Brycki, after postponing her wedding due to Covid concerns.

Tuncdoruk told followers the couple requested a refund, “but they said the best they could do was put it back up online to be booked by someone else”.

Her followers then bombarded the small company with complaints until they relented and offered a full refund.

Weekenda’s CEO and founder Pete Smith defended his actions and accused the influencer of being “very demanding and threatening” to his staff.

Emails obtained by the Daily Mail revealed how Tundoruk threatened to take Weekenda to Fair Trading if she didn’t receive her money back in full – despite the company’s terms and conditions stating customers aren’t entitled to a refund if they decide to cancel their stay.

Off the back of that came a spat between Tuncdoruk and Uber Eats, which reportedly prompted publicists to pull her from their upcoming invite lists.

In her rant, she explained how she got a notification saying her food was arriving, taking the person “a further 20 minutes to get to my door because he hadn’t read my delivery instructions”.

“When I called him to explain he didn’t understand a word I was saying … when foreigners are delivering it takes twice as long for me to receive my then cold food. Sort it out,” the post to Uber Eats read.

After it was made public, Jade took to social media to apologise to “anyone I have hurt”.

“I’m sorry to anyone I’ve hurt with my comments. I hold myself accountable for my actions,” she wrote.

“It doesn’t excuse anything, but know that I have grown immensely in the past several years. I always do my best to be someone others can look up to and I know I’ve let people down and for that I’m truly sorry.”
