Police investigate unusual burglary in Cranbourne North in Melbourne’s southeast
DETECTIVES are baffled by a strange burglary in which the chilled suspect took a bath, brushed his teeth and cooked himself a meal.
DETECTIVES are investigating a bizarre burglary in which the suspect took a bath, shaved, brushed his teeth, cooked some noodles and used a PlayStation before leaving five hours later.
The relaxed thief broke into a house in Hassett Lane, in Cranbourne North, around 8.10am on June 21.
CCTV shows the man spent around five hours inside as he made himself at home.
In an unusual twist police said they found evidence suggesting the man also masturbated while inside the property.
Forensics officers have gone over the crime scene with a fine-tooth comb in a bid to discover the identity of the burglar.
The thief stole a number of electrical items including a laptop computer and left wearing the male victim’s clothes.
Detective Senior Constable Angela Butler, of Casey CIU, said the burglary was disturbing.
“It is a very odd one,” Sen Con Butler said.
“It is the couple’s first home and they are mortified.”
Police are hopeful somebody in the area may have seen something which will help them catch the man.
The man is described as being aged in his 20s, with a large build and brown short hair.
He left wearing a grey Richmond hooded jacket, black shorts, brown calf-length UGG boots and a black cap.
He was also carrying a distinctive black Nike bag with a pink tick, a red savers shopping bag, a blue Aldi shopping bag and another black bag slung over his shoulder.
Internet records show the man logged on and played a PlayStation game while at the property.
CCTV shows the man outside the property.
“It is clear CCTV but we can’t see his face,” Sen Con Butler said.
“If anybody saw anybody acting suspiciously in the area or a suspicious vehicle I would like them to get in touch.”
Police have released CCTV and images of a man they would like to speak to.
