Warning: Distressing

A medical influencer who helped thousands of women during their pregnancies has tragically died at age 34 – just days after having emergency surgery.

Taina Madeiros was a nurse who had amassed almost 75,000 followers on Instagram thanks to her helpful maternity advice.

However, the social media star has died suddenly in Brazil at the age of 34 after reportedly being rushed in for surgery following an ectopic pregnancy.

The rare condition occurs when a fertilised egg implants outside the uterus (womb), typically in one of the fallopian tubes, Health Direct states.

In some cases, the fallopian tube can be saved. Typically, diagnosis occurs when the affected tube bursts, requiring emergency surgery.

A ruptured tube often needs to be removed as it can cause severe bleeding, infection and in severe instances even death.

No official cause of death has been given following Ms Madeiros’ unexpected passing on Wednesday, but her friends said she had an ectopic pregnancy last week, The Sun reports.

In her final post on Instagram, she had asked her fans to “pray for my recovery”.

“Now I need to take care of myself... But soon I will be better to take care of you, God willing,” she shared.

The influencer leaves behind a husband and five-year-old daughter, according to The Mirror.

Ms Madeiros has since been laid to rest in Parnamirim, northeast Brazil, with fans flooding her social media account with tributes for the much-loved maternity mentor.

“We’ll never forget what you did for us,” one wrote.

“You will always be remembered like this, with that beautiful smile on your face,” another shared.

While one stated: “How sad, how painful my friend. Our guardian angel.”

A heartbreaking post shared on Ms Madeiros’ Instagram page announced her death on Friday.

It read: “God has called our Tai home.

“Wife, mother, daughter, friend, entrepreneur. A woman full of faith, eternal values, and boundless kindness.

“She touched the lives of many, seeing beyond with eyes that reflected the beauty of the sea and exuded compassion.

“We are left with the best memories: her bright smile, warm embrace, and her legacy of love.”

The rate of ectopic pregnancy in Australia is around 1-2 per cent with a maternal mortality of 0.2 per 1000 estimated ectopic pregnancies, according to St John Ambulance.

The majority of these deaths can be attributed to sub-standard care, with the most vulnerable population being women who do not have access to sufficient medical assistance.
