Signed, sealed, and… not delivered.

Posting to a Reddit thread on Monday, a clearly fed-up Australia Post customer shared a photo of the handwritten sign he’d stuck to his letterbox, alongside the caption: “They’re not doing it to me again this time.”

And by “they”, he means the elusive courier who’s developed a bit of a reputation in his area.

“Very expensive and large package coming today… Ain’t no way in hell I’m driving to the airport to pick it up because of my area’s driver!” he wrote.

“He loves to just put in the we missed you note and speed off – and that’s if he even finds the motivation to leave a note at all!”

To avoid another frustrating delivery fail, the Redditor crafted a direct - yet quite polite - message to the driver.

“I am home! I can help with my package if needed as it is heavy. Please feel free to knock and ask!”

Simple, clear, impossible to miss right? Wrong.

Later that day, he returned to the thread with an infuriating update: another dreaded collection notice slapped into his letterbox like clockwork.

“Are you f**king kidding me,” he wrote, alongside a photo of the card left.

Cue the internet’s collective sigh: “This is the update I knew was coming,” one replied.

“You know they fill out those ‘nobody was home’ cards before they even leave the depot. “They never had any intention to deliver your parcel,” added another.

“Saw this coming from a mile off. They don’t give a sh*t. It wasn’t even in the van,” a third chimed in.

A fellow Aussie also shared their own postal horror story in the thread:

“I had this happen once when I took a day off to be there to sign. We had cameras facing the driveway and letterbox.

“After waiting almost all day I went out to the letterbox and saw their calling card along with tyre tracks through my garden bed.

“Went straight inside to the cameras and watched back. Saw clear footage of the driver cutting over the road, running over my garden so he could lean out the driver’s window and shove the card into the letterbox.

“I called to complain. Politely stated that I have been home all day and just noticed the card in my letterbox. No knock or doorbell used.

“They claimed their driver attempted delivery, but no one answered the door. They claimed two attempts over a few minutes.

“I responded, Well, my security camera doesn’t show that. It shows your driver running over my garden to shove a card in my letterbox without the driver exiting their van.

“They said I’d still need to pick it up, and I said, No, you can deliver it. About an hour later, the driver knocked on my door and delivered it with an apology.

“He even attempted to tidy up the garden bed. We had a different delivery guy after that and never had an issue at that house again.”

These recent sagas show that some customers aren’t just waiting by the door anymore - they’re fighting back with signs, security cameras, and Reddit receipts - to receive the bare minimum - the parcel they ordered.

But when it comes to customer patience? Yeah, that’s been officially lost in the mail.

In a statement to news.com.au, an Australia Post spokesperson said:

“We are keen to look into this matter further, and encourage the customer to get in touch with us directly via our website or by calling 13 POST (13 7678).

“Australia Post has strict protocols in place for delivery drivers, requiring them to knock three times, 30 seconds and take a photo of the front door or intercom.”
