Mum, 32, has mind blown after discovering reason for slang term
A 32-year-old mother has shared a video revealing her mind was blown after learning about a popular slang term – and many agreed with her.
A mother-of-two has revealed she finally understands a popular slang abbreviation.
The 32-year-old took to TikTok to explain that, at her age, she now knows why the words ‘first’ and ‘second’ are shortened to ‘1st’ and ‘2nd’.
“At my big age of 32 I have just learn that the ‘st’ in 1st, ‘nd’ in 2nd and ‘rd’ in 3rd are because they are the last letters of the word ‘first’ and so forth,” she wrote over the TikTok video.
She concluded several mind explosion emojis following her revelation.
Over the top of the video was the sound of someone laughing so hysterically that they were wheezing.
She added the hashtag “still learning” to the clip’s caption.
The woman said that she never thought about it that deeply before to realise why the abbreviation was the way that it was.
The clip has been viewed more than 2.7 million times and has garnered 2850 comments.
But, it turns out, the woman wasn’t the only one who didn’t know.
“I’m 64 and I only just realised that from this TikTok! You got to love TikTok,” one social media user commented.
Another said: “No more internet for me today, I need to process.”
A third said: “I feel like I knew this but I never really realised it fully you know?”
One added to the conversation by questioning their own knowledge.
Others took the opportunity to show off their intelligence.
