Skaf rapist walks from jail

Notorious schoolgirl rapist Mohammed Skaf has finally broken his silence after being released from prison.

Skaf was photographed leaving his family home in Sydney’s west on Friday after being released on parole this week.

He pointed at photographers and issued a brutal warning as they snapped him from a neighbouring property and the street.

“You’re getting charged with trespassing mate, you’re on private land,” Skaf said.

He then pointed to someone else and said: “Take a photo of him.”

Skaf was granted strict parole after spending much of his adult life behind bars for the rape of several girls in the lead up to the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

The 38-year-old walked out of Long Bay jail on Wednesday, wearing a mask, sunglasses, a Hugo Boss jumper, jewellery and white sneakers.

On Friday, he was spotted leaving the family home, sporting $100 Carrera branded sunnies, a salmon Tommy Hilfiger shirt and matching Nike shoes.

The tracking tag on his ankle was also visible.

Skaf is living in a granny flat at the house of his parents, Baria and Mustapha Skaf.

Skaf had been behind bars for 21 years after joining his elder brother, Bilal, to commit a series of gang rapes that targeted six women aged between 16 and 18 during a four-week spree that shocked the nation.

The nine men convicted were originally sentenced to a combined 240 years in jail, but the sentences were reduced on appeal.

Mohammed Skaf was released from jail Wednesday to serve two years in the community on parole.

He failed three previous applications for release because he did not show remorse for his offences.

In 2000, as a District Court judge, Michael Finnane QC jailed Skaf for 32 years and Bilal for 55 years.

Mr Finnane told NCA NewsWire on Wednesday that Skaf’s release was the appropriate course of action because it allowed authorities to closely monitor his activity.

His parole conditions include electronic monitoring, compliance with ongoing psychological intervention, a ban on any form of contact with his victims, a ban on contact with any co-offenders, as well as being forbidden to visit the local government areas of Liverpool, Fairfield, Blacktown and Parramatta.

“He has to be released at some (point) and it is better that he is released under strict supervision for some time,” Mr Finnane said.

“I hope it works out. All the Skaf gang members have been released, except Bilal Skaf.

“With one exception, to my knowledge, all have settled back into the community. I hope Mohammed Skaf does too.”

The NSW State Parole Authority also argued that Skaf’s release was the best way to integrate him into society and protect the community.

He was sentenced to 22 years, 11 months and 30 days in jail, with a non-parole period of 16 years, 11 months and 30 days.

His sentence expires in January 2024.
