Melbourne entrepreneur catches man in ‘grotty’ act on Chapel St
Chapel Street shoppers watched in horror as a man brazenly pulled down his pants in broad daylight and did the unthinkable at 3pm.
Melbourne man Jordan Mylius had just finished filming a lighthearted video for his haircare brand in Priceline on Chapel Street, Prahran, when something shocking caught his eye.
The Hairification founder, who was recording with a friend on Friday afternoon, turned to see a man defecating between two parked cars – one of which was his own.
The footage, posted on TikTok, quickly amassed more than 35,000 views.
“That man just took a s**t,” Mylius’s filming partner, Aspen, said, capturing the moment the stranger pulled up his pants and walked off.
“Welcome to Chapel Street, welcome to Poo-hran,” Mylius replied dryly in the clip.
‘Not staged’
Mylius told news.com.au that the bizarre encounter was entirely unplanned.
“That was 100 per cent not staged,” he said.
“We were just out filming one afternoon and we walked out and saw it. I thought, thank God I saw it because I would have stepped in it – I was about to get something out of the boot.”
He said the man wasn’t even trying to be discreet.
“He was squatting down, just there, holding what looked like alcohol in a brown paper bag,” he explained.
The incident occurred at around 3pm in broad daylight.
“It was right in the middle of the afternoon,” Mylius said. “It’s horrifying, but it’s part of a broader problem we’re having in Melbourne”.
‘Hamster wheel of hell’
Mylius said this wasn’t an isolated incident and reflected the wider decline in safety and public behaviour happening in Victoria at the moment.
“There’s a lot of crime, home invasions, carjackings – it’s very dangerous,” he said. “The world’s most liveable city? I don’t think it’s that anymore”.
In Melbourne, public defecation is illegal and can result in fines of up to $645.
“Obviously, it’s not as bad as those other crimes,” Mylius noted, “but it’s still part of that hamster wheel of hell. It’s very sad from all angles.”
Locals looked on
Despite the shocking nature of the act, Mylius said no one around stepped in or reacted.
“It was busy, but no one did anything,” he said. “Maybe people would be less inclined to do that sort of thing if others made it clear it’s not okay. But it was done, and there wasn’t much anyone could do”.
Since the video went viral online, Mylius said several people have messaged him to say they’ve seen similar incidents around Melbourne.
“It’s not the first time, and I’ve had people say they’ve witnessed it in other suburbs too,” he said.
‘Disgusting’
When asked if he had a message to the anonymous man, Mylius said: “We all understand nature calls, but especially in a place like that, where there are so many public rest rooms available close by, it’s just grotty, silly behaviour, disgusting and unhygienic.”
Despite the ordeal, Mylius said he and his team plan to keep their content authentic.
“We keep it real on TikTok, nothing’s fake – just like our haircare,” he said. “This was a very real example of that”.

Shock act outside Surfers shop
It comes after a woman was caught on CCTV last week also “popping a squat” out the front of a Surfers Paradise kebab shop – relieving herself on the pavement outside the busy takeaway joint.
Thankfully, this time it was a number one, but it still horrified onlookers, who were out and about during the dinner rush.
The viral footage was shared on A Current Affair, where the host described the “bold blonde” as “giving her own golden glow to the glitter strip”.
What’s worse is that after the woman was finished, she used a napkin from the shop as toilet paper and threw it on the floor.
And just moments later, a small child lay on the floor, unintentionally rolling around in the stream of urine.
