Little-known Woolies checkout hack customers are loving

Woolworths customers are getting excited over a little-known hack that eliminates one of the frustrating elements of grocery shopping.

Little known Woolworths receipt hack

A little-known checkout trick that eliminates one of the annoying parts of grocery shopping has customers celebrating.

Woolworths customers are now able to get paperless receipts, cutting down on paper use as well as waiting time at the checkout, and making it easy to keep track of spending instead of scrambling in wallets or bags when making a refund.

All customers have to do is jump on their Everyday Rewards app, head to their account page and update their receipt preferences.

From that point, all receipts are stored digitally in the app. As not all customers may know, paper receipts are unable to be recycled due to the thin later of plastic film covering the printout, so the digital option means customers are doing something good for the environment as well as keeping all their paperwork in one place.

Just like a paper receipt, an eReceipt can be used for refunds and is an option for Woolies, BWS and Big W.

The option was introduced to customers in June last year, but many shoppers are just catching on. Since it was launched, a million shoppers have opted for digital receipts.

Woolworths Everyday Rewards managing director told Hannah Ross told news.com.au: “Our eReceipts functionality available within the Everyday Rewards app was launched with the goal of streamlining the checkout experience for customers, while also supporting our wider group sustainability commitments.

“We are pleased to see eReceipts are proving popular with Everyday Rewards members, with over one million shoppers now opting out of paper receipts, saving on average 13 metres of paper per customer, every year.”

Customers are stoked with the development.

News.com.au lifestyle editor and TikTok user @thisisbex posted a video going through the process with the caption: “Such a good Woolies hack!”

Others jumped on, with those not in the know saying they would opt for digital receipts going forward.

“Doing this now!” one user commented.

The eReceipt option is just one recent environmental initiative from Woolworths.

Last month, the supermarket released its latest collectibles range, known as Fix-ems.

The collectibles are reusable woven patches that can be stuck to a water bottle, pencil case, phones and even skateboards.

The patches are made of at least 80 per cent recycled materials and have been certified by the Good Environmental Choice Australia.
