Jaw-dropping Kyle & Jackie O Show interview: ‘I identify as a dog’
A woman who identifies as a dog has explained how she does tricks for treats and instead of a boyfriend, she has a “handler”.
A woman who identifies as a dog says she is rewarded with doggie biscuits for good behaviour.
US Twitch streamer Meow Dalyn appeared on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday to explain her unorthodox lifestyle.
She explained to hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson that she identifies as a dalmatian breed, sleeps in a crate and is rewarded for doing tricks with dog treats.
“My name is Meow like a cat, but I am a dog,” she declared to the hosts.
Jackie ‘O’ was confused by Meow’s name, given she identifies as a canine asking, “Why did you call yourself Meow then?”
Meow explained as a kind of antiphrasis, where you give something the exact opposite to its usual meaning, “It’s kind of like whenever you have a really small dog, like a Chihuahua and you name it Hercules”.
Kyle, meanwhile, tested out a theory by activating a “dog controller” device near the microphone during the conversation. Meow appeared to flinch and said, “I don’t like that.”
Meow, who is “117 dog years” old, said she doesn’t have a boyfriend, instead calling her partner/s “handlers”.
She said the handlers feed her and take her on walks.
“We practice training, which is one of my favourite things because I get treats.”
Prompted by a question from Jackie ‘O’, Meow admitted to going to the toilet in the backyard on occasions, but she added if it was raining she would “get over myself” and use the “human toilet”.
Acting like a dog is sure to fetch a lot of notice from the public, but Moew said she doesn’t pay much attention to what people think about her because “I’m so in the moment of just being the dog”.
Kyle asked a risque question about sex, prompting Meow to bark in response.
“She’s an actual dog!” Kyle declared.
Meow has about 11,000 followers on Twitch and is a Twitch ‘pawtner’ [partner], meaning she gets a larger share of revenue from the Amazon-owned service.
She insists she is serious about identifying as a dog. She’s not a furry, the fandom subculture that involves people dressing up in suits and acting as animals. Instead, she self-classified as an ‘Inumimi ‘, which she defined as a “mut(t)ation somewhere between human and canine”.
And she doesn’t produce any adult content online.
“No. Do not mistake my playful/lewd entertainment style as parasocialised flirtation. Do not mistake my heartfelt encouragement through chat as romantic attraction. I’m not sending secret signals. I do not want to date you,” she wrote in her bio.
