Retail work can be repetitive, and workers are always up for making their day a little more interesting.

And one Kmart worker, Liam Gildea, took it to a new level when the musician shared a video of his announcement to customers that the store would be closing in 10 minutes.

He played Spring, a classical piece by Antonio Vilvaldi, before he began to speak in an exaggerated English accent.

“Good evening customers, as the time is now 8.50pm this store will close in 10 minutes time,” he said.

“And as the sun must set on a beautiful horizon, so must you make your way to the front of the store to finalise your purchases.

“Do note tomorrow morning, we reopen at 8am for your shopping convenience.”

He even dramatically rolled the “r” when saying “reopen”.

“Good morrow customers, good morrow,” he finished, letting the music continue for a few moments longer.

Liam has less than 10,000 followers on the social media platform TikTok but the video has clocked up more than 5.5 million views since it was posted four days ago.

Social media users were enamoured with the video, with one even joking that Liam needed a raise for his actions.

“I need to see the shoppers reaction to this,” one person commented.

Another added: “I would love to hear this in the shops hahahhahahaha this should be the new standard.”

“DUDE I gotta show this to my manager and see if they will let us do it at our Kmart,” a colleague from another store said.

One joked: “I think if you kept the music playing, everyone would be out of there before the 10 minutes were up.”

Another social media user commented: “Bro deserves a raise.”

“I LOVE THIS! It’s giving Bridgerton,” one said, while another asked why Liam wasn’t a manager yet.
