A friend called the police asking them to do a welfare check before they found the 27-year-old dead in her home.

Police have confirmed she killed herself.

People reported that on the morning of August 27, police were conducting a welfare check on Pacholke’s home after she reportedly made suicidal comments.

“After receiving no answer at the door, officers entered the home and found Pacholke deceased,” a police press release stated.

The couple, who had a two year relationship, reportedly had a tumultuous romance which involved arguments, alcohol and rumours of affairs.

Friends of Pacholke, a former star basketball player at the University of South Florida, said she found an unfamiliar pair of underwear in the couple’s home.

“The Wausau Police and Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office have confirmed that 27-year-old Neena Pacholke died as a result of suicide,” the Wausau Police Department said in a release via Facebook.

A friend told DailyMail.com that Pacholke had become suspicious Mr Haase, a commercial sales manager, may have reconnected a sexual relationship with an ex-partner.

The couple, who met at a funeral in 2020, had been due to marry on October 12 this year at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico.

Pacholke’s mother, Laurie, said her daughter had a history of mental health problems.

“She was getting treatment. I’ll put it out there – she had been to the crisis centre a couple of times,” Laurie told WAOW-9.

“She had so many people here to talk to. She talked to people, but she didn’t want anybody to know how she was hurting, so she didn’t talk until it got so bad.”

After Pacholke’s death, her sister Kaitlynn Pacholke spoke to the Tampa Bay Times.

“My sister was by far the happiest person I thought I knew,” Kaitlynn told the Times.

“Sometimes you just don’t know what people are going through, no matter how much you think you know someone,” she added. “My sister had access to every resource you could imagine. She was loved by everybody. She was so good at her job.”

WAOW wrote that “the entire team here at News 9 are absolutely devastated by the loss as we know so many others are as well”.

“Neena loved this community and the people who lived here,” the station added. “She was a kind person with a big heart and a contagious smile and we will miss her greatly.”
