Insane brawl filmed in Adelaide McDonald’s carpark

A man has been jailed for five years after being caught on camera brazenly assaulting a 16yo boy to steal his Macca's order while high on meth.

Shocking footage has captured the moment a man assaulted a teenage boy and his mother outside a McDonald’s in Adelaide.

Christopher John Corley, 29, was jailed for more than five years for his brazen daylight robbery and violent assault while high on methamphetamine.

Before the attack, which took place on July 5, 2022, Corley approached a 16-year-old boy inside a McDonald’s at Paralowie in northern Adelaide, the SA District Court heard.

Corley then followed the boy as he walked to the carpark carrying a paper bag of food and tray of drinks.

Footage released by the court shows the teen return to his car before Corley runs up behind him and punches him in the head.

The boy collapses, dropping his order, and Corley begins collecting the food that has fallen onto the ground.

The victim’s mother jumped from the car to check on her son, but Corley returned to the scene once more.

She refused to give Corley her car keys and a scuffle ensued, with Corley pushing her to the ground.

The boy manages to pull Corley off his mother and the assailant fled, but returned shortly after to grab her keys and some spilt chips from the ground.

Finally, Corley fled the McDonald’s on foot, still carrying a red cardboard sleeve of chips.

Police were called to the Lyell McEwin Hospital early the next morning after reports Corley was fighting with others in the emergency department.

The boy was unable to see his terminally ill grandmother for the final time after the assault, as he did not want his injuries to cause her more distress, he said in a victim impact statement presented to the court.

“The extraordinary shock and trauma that he experienced would be difficult for anyone to move on from, and perhaps more difficult for someone of his young age,” Judge Paul Slattery said.

“He is to be commended for his bravery in protecting his mother, and certainly should not feel as if he has somehow let her down.”

Corley had not slept for two days prior to the attack and had “buried” himself in amphetamines and alcohol, the court heard.

He was sentenced to five years and four months in jail, with a non-parole period of four months.

The sentence was backdated to the day after the attack, when Corley was arrested — July 6, 2022.

“There is no doubt that [the victims] must have been absolutely terrified by your actions, which were remarkably violent, brazen, unprovoked and occurring in broad daylight,” Judge Slattery said.
