Influencer Veruca Salt’s hospital trip hours before baby’s death
A 25-year-old Aussie influencer told her followers her baby boy was “fine” just hours before sharing the devastating news of his death.
A young TikTok star insisted her six-week-old baby boy was “fine” after rushing him to hospital – only for the newborn to tragically die hours later in his sleep.
It has further been revealed Gold Coast influencer and sex worker Veruca Salt has grappled with accepting the tragic news.
The 25-year-old took to TikTok on Sunday morning to reveal she was taking her son Cash to hospital because “he hasn’t pooped in seven days”.
Salt, whose real name is Kimberley Summer Hartley, cradled her baby as she showed off his light blue jumpsuit and her own Juicy Couture outfit in the clip.
“My baby’s looking for the boob even though you just had a boob – he’s starving,” she joked to her 730,000 followers as Cash appeared to giggle.
After returning from hospital, the 25-year-old reassured her fans her baby was “fine”.
Little did she know, those moments captured on video would be among her last with her beloved son.
Tragedy struck hours later.
Queensland Police confirmed they responded to a call at Veruca’s Southport unit at 6:13am on Monday, February 5.
In an emotional Instagram story on Tuesday, she wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that I’m writing this. My baby died in his sleep on Monday morning.”
Despite the revelation, she remained uncertain about the cause, stating: “I don’t know what happened, he is having an autopsy this week but it is unlikely that I’ll ever have an answer.”
Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to assess the circumstances surrounding Cash’s death.
A subsequent post on Wednesday morning showed Veruca in tears with the caption: “I’m sorry, there’s nothing else we can do.”
“I knew he was dead but there was a part of me that really thought they were gonna wake him up,” she wrote.
The young social media personality has been sharing her pregnancy journey with her audience up to Cash’s birth on December 19.
Salt’s journey in the public eye hasn’t been without controversy.
As an OnlyFans creator and former sex worker, she has faced criticism and judgment.
In a previous video, she appealed to her audience to support her on OnlyFans, citing financial difficulties and expressing her desire for a better life.
While her career choices may have sparked debate, Veruca says sex work provided her with freedom and confidence.
“Sex work taught me that no matter who you are or what you look like – skinny, fat, caucasian, a person of colour, cis, trans, anything – there will always be a large group of people who find you beautiful, even if you don’t,” she said previously.
“I now love my job. I love being able to do what I want when I want and having as much freedom as anyone could ask for.”
