A famous influencer has defended the outfit she wore as a guest at a wedding, explaining there was no dress code.

Influencer Isabella Mathers has worn a bridal looking dress to her dad’s wedding, causing a stir among followers.

The Aussie influencer, who has over a million followers, clarified that although the dress appeared white, it was baby pink.

It was a non-traditional event, and the bride wore a floral number, which means Mathers’ outfit looked more bridal than the bride’s.

She looked gorgeous in a satin and lace gown by designer Danielle Guizio. To show off her outfit, she posted a series of photos on Instagram.

She paired the slinky number with some nude heels, and her partner, Harri Musumeci, matched her in a white linen shirt, cream pants, and sneakers. Mathers referred to him as “my date forever”.

The wedding celebrations appeared low-key, and in a backyard, and in true influencer fashion, Mathers documented the day.

Suspecting criticism could be coming her way, Mathers clarified why she chose to wear the designer dress.

“Before anyone has something to say about my dress, it was not a traditional wedding. There was no dress code, and my dad’s partner wore a floral dress. Half of the guests were wearing white,” she wrote.

This wedding look follows earlier this year when Mathers wore a full-length, partially see-through dress to her friend, influencer and fitness instructor Rachel Dillion’s wedding welcome dinner.

The bride opted for a white mini dress for dinner, while Mathers had gone for a full-length number.

People online weren’t impressed with Mathers’ choice, and some labelled the dress “inappropriate”.

“I don’t want to be mean. But that’s not an appropriate dress for a wedding,” one commented.

“Inappropriate dress for a wedding. Period,” another wrote.

“The belly cut out for wedding? Just seems not appropriate,” someone remarked.

One comment even prompted a reply from Mathers, when someone claimed the outfit seemed to suggest that she wanted to “outshine the bride”.

“The bride is my best friend. You don’t think I discussed every single one of my outfits with her?” Mathers replied.

Others online were in favour of the look,

“Does it really matter y’all? She already went to the wedding/rehearsals?” one asked.

“Literally, everyone is so upset about how perfect you are,” another argued.

“People are so lame leaving comments putting u down for wearing a dress,” one person wrote.
