‘He got up and left’: Woman dumped over shock first date act

A fitness influencer has revealed a man “got up and left” her in the middle of their fancy restaurant date over her “strict” eating rules.

Sweaty dating trend taking over Aussie city

A fitness influencer has revealed that a man once stood up and left in the middle of a first date when she pulled out her prepacked lunch at a fancy restaurant.

Vanusa Freitas, 32, was excited to be on a first date with a new suitor at The Shard, a fine dining restaurant in London, but she didn’t want to mess up her strict diet.

Rather than cancel the date, she decided to bring a healthy homemade meal with her, but it proved too much for her potential suitor.

“I didn’t want to go off my diet, so I made the decision to take my own meal to the restaurant,” Ms Freitas told NeedToKnow.

“I thought it would be a good idea, but he didn’t agree.”

The unnamed man was so turned off by her apparent obsession with her diet, he walked out on their date, leaving her in complete shock.

“We were in the middle of the date, he got up and left,” Ms Freitas said.

“I didn’t know what to do.”

The model explained that tracking what she eats can be crucial for her career.

“Not everyone understands that sometimes I have situations where I need to be 100 per cent strict with my diet,” she explained.

“When I have a commitment, like photo shoots, for example, I tend to be more radical.”

However, getting stood up on a first date helped Ms Freitas to realise she needed to find more of a balance.

“Now I seek a healthy life and a real life. I do everything, but always aim to engage in physical activities, any exercise that I enjoy,” she shared.

“Even going out dancing helps burn calories. So does cycling and cleaning, so the ideal is always to stay active. That is the secret, I believe.”

Ms Freitas still follows certain diets at times but no longer lets her eating habits disrupt her life.

“I am more at peace with my body, and I strive for balance,” she said.

“I’m allowing myself to go off the diet occasionally. There comes a point when your body stabilises.

“You can maintain yourself well without needing to make many sacrifices.”

Her change in approach even meant Ms Freitas was able to discuss what happened with her date and move past the “awkward situation”.

“On that day, I was very upset, and he was too,” she said.

“We talked afterwards and I apologised for what happened. It was our first date and although it started off on the wrong foot, we managed to move past it.”

The two have since gone on several other dates.

“I was just trying to maintain my healthy routine, but he thought it was too much,” Freitas said.

“Since this episode, I’ve become more careful about how and when to implement my strict diets.”
