‘Freaking out’: Mum’s terrifying find on babycam was optical illusion
A mum thought she and her infant son were “in real danger” after a terrifying vision on his baby monitor – only for it to be an optical illusion.
A mum was left terrified after looking at her son’s baby monitor and seeing a “giant gorilla” standing in her living room – only for it to be an optical illusion.
Maddy Moore who resides in Mesa, Arizona, had put her one-year-old son Weston down for a nap before stepping outside to tan, The New York Post reports.
While soaking up the sun, the 26-year-old checked the baby monitor which was set up in her living room and got the fright of her life.
Recalling the incident in a viral post that’s been viewed over 30 million times, Ms Moore wrote: “Just checking my baby monitor to find a huge gorilla in my living room?! I never moved so fast to go and see.”
The mortified mum subsequently revealed that there was no ape in her living room.
Rather, it was an embarrassing optical illusion.
“There was literally nothing in there so I was thinking maybe my monitor got hacked and I’m kind of freaking out more,” she told Kennedy News.
Ms Moore subsequently realised the monitor wasn’t hacked, nor was she hallucinating.
Instead, it was her son’s toy gorilla that had been seen on the monitor.
“I walked by the camera closely and that’s when I saw the tiny gorilla. It was one of his zoo animal toys,” she said.
“It’s such a tiny toy but on the camera it looks huge. It looked so realistic on the picture – it literally looked like a real gorilla. For a split second, I did think ‘are we in real danger?’”
Ms Moore wasn’t the only person deceived by the optical illusion.
“My flabbers (sic) were gasted (sic) because why does it look so real?” one person commented.
“With all the chaos in the world … these days you just never really know what to expect anymore,” another said.
