Enraged husband smashes beauty pageant winner’s crown after wife comes second

An enraged husband lost the plot after his wife placed second in a beauty pageant, rushing the stage and smashing the winner’s crown.

A husband stormed the stage of a beauty pageant in Brazil, hijacked the winner’s crown and furiously slammed it to the ground after his wife was awarded the second-place honours, local news outlet Globo reported.

Shocked audience members at the Miss Gay Mato Grosso 2023 pageant shrieked Saturday as the partner of first runner-up contestant Nathally Becker, who was representing the city of Cuiabá, violently interrupted the crowning ceremony of winner Emannuelly Belini — who was representing the municipality of Várzea Grande.

Just as the twinkling tiara was about to be placed atop Belini’s head, Becker’s hot-headed hubby yanked it away and hurled it to the stage floor, per eye-popping footage of the fracas now going viral via Jam Press.

Miss Cuiabá’s rhinestone-snatching spouse, who remains publicly unidentified, then picked up the crown and heaved it to the ground again, breaking the prize to pieces.

The mad man then attempted to pull Becker offstage, but pageant security intervened, ushering him backstage.

Pageant co-ordinator Malone Haenisch released a statement about the fierce outburst, insisting that the pageant’s judges were fair in declaring Belini as queen and shaming the violent behaviour of Becker’s husband.

“He did not consider the result to be fair and caused all this inconvenience and damage,” Haenisch said.

“We vehemently condemn the incident that occurred at the time of the crowning of the elected Miss,” the event planner continued, “when the partner of Miss Cuiabá, who was classified in second place, invaded the stage and aggressively destroyed the crown.”

Haenisch added, “We confirm the pageant jury’s choice and we sympathise with the elected Miss, as well as [Becker], as she is not responsible for the crazy attitudes of third parties”.

The statement went on to note that the pageant’s “legal team has been informed” of the criminal incident and that “necessary legal measures” will be taken as a result of the disruptive stunt.

Haenisch then acknowledged Belini for taking home the coveted title.

“The Miss Mato Grosso Gay pageant team congratulates Miss Várzea Grande, Emannuelly Belini, elected Miss Gay Mato Grosso 2023 on the night of 27 May,” said the organiser.

“We reiterate our best wishes and wish you a glamorous reign, and that your activities may reflect the voice and desires of the LGBTQIAP+ community.”
