‘Embarrassing’: Millionaire’s LinkedIn post divides

A millionaire has taken to LinkedIn to share some big news – and it has immediately divided people.

Woman was catfishes for almost a decade

Millionaire James Watt, the co-founder of the UK brewery chain Brewdog, took to LinkedIn to announce his engagement — but he got more than he bargained for.

The platform, usually reserved for people to share their workplace success stories or corporate musings, was also the place where Mr Watt decided to give a personal update.

Mr Watt decided to embrace corporate jargon and shared that he proposed to his former

reality television star influencer girlfriend, Georgia Toffolo.

“I did a very cool deal at the end of last week. It is a long-term contractual agreement which looks poised for future growth. Both business and personal,” he wrote.

“Lots of mutual investment.”

According to The Sun the business man is at least worth $400 million.

Mr Watt than attached a photo of him and his beaming bride-to-be showing off her engagement ring.

The post got reshared on X. The user attached a screenshot of the LinkedIn post and joked,

“LinkedIn is a disease.”

That tweet got over one million views.

People online were divided over Mr Watt’s choice to share his engagement news with his LinkedIn network.

“I’m going to die of cringe,” one wrote.

“This is absolutely hilarious and iconic,” another argued.

“Good grief,” another remarked.

“How lovely,” someone else said.

“Oh that is bad,” one wrote and then added the vomit emoji to really hammer home their point.

“That is so embarrassing. I’d give the ring back,” someone else said.

Despite the backlash, Ms Toffolo is happily sharing their engagement news on her Instagram, where she has almost 2 million followers.

On Instagram, she said that getting engaged was the “best moment” of her life.

“James asked me to marry him. It really was the best moment of my life so far,” she said. “I never knew I could feel happiness like this. The easiest, quickest yes to being your wife.”

She also shared that she was grateful they managed to find each other considering there are billions of people in the world.

“I love you forever and the magical life we’re building.”

She then followed that post up with another post where she gushed about him again.

“No one tells you how intense the sheer elation is! I’m on top of the world! Also the luckiest girl in the world! Swamped with happiness! I want to scream from the rooftop,” she added.

Mr Watt also posted about their engagement on Instagram and announced the news in a more casual manner.

“I am so grateful that managed to find each other and even more grateful to be building our lives together,” he said.
