Ellidy Pullin, the partner of former Aussie snowboarding legend Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin, has shared that his mother has passed away, five years after the 32-year-old tragically drowned in a spearfishing accident.

Pullin, 32, announced the sad news in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Thursday morning, filled with sentimental photos of her mother-in-law, Sal.

The model and podcaster was in a relationship with Chumpy for eight years, and while they never married, she took his last name in his honour after he died.

Pullin was able to have a child 18 months after the 2020 accident through IVF and a sperm retrieval process and is now a mother to their three-year-old daughter, Minnie.

“Reunited with her boy Chump! Together forever now, walking on the clouds, somewhere up there …” she captioned the post, remembering her late mother-in-law.

“To remember this beautiful woman is to picture that warm, beaming smile and hear her cheeky giggle. I’ll forever cherish her special family lasagne recipe, and when she’d grab her ukulele in the afternoon and sing Chumpy’s song Four Babies over and over. We’d never get tired of that joyful voice.

“I love you Sal. I’ll miss sailing with you, sunbaking and sipping rum with you, nibbling cheese and listening to you identify every kind of bird species that exists in this world and imitating how each one chirps. I wish you could run me through Chumpy’s favourite cheesecake just one more time because no one can ever nail it quite like you!

“I will never stop talking about you and showing your beautiful granddaughter Minnie photos and videos of your amazing-ness. You’re loved and adored by so many Sal – a real angel on earth, and now you’re one in the sky — reunited with your boy. I know he’s holding you forever tight.

“Fly high, Sal.”

In one of the images, Sal is pictured with her son on a beach during a sailing trip in New Caledonia.

She called it her “favourite photo ever” and said it’s how she’ll “forever picture Sal”.

In another, she’s seen playing with her granddaughter, strumming a ukulele and enjoying days on the water.

In one particular photo, Pullin showed Sal singing her a lullaby to help her avoid throwing up while on a boat.

The carousel was immediately flooded with heartfelt messages and condolences from the influencer’s fans, family, and friends.

Australian DJ Fisher wrote, “Love you sis,” while his wife and Pullin’s podcast colleague, Chloe, replied, “RIP beautiful Sal”.

“God, you’ve been through enough!” pointed out someone else.

Chantelle Otten wrote, “Sending you and your family love”.

And fellow podcaster and businesswoman Nikki Westcott replied, “I’m so sorry to hear”.

It comes after Pullin said she’s not yet ready to meet someone to date long-term.

Last year, Pullin told The Gold Coast Bulletin that she has, however, had a few flings while on holiday.

“What goes on in Bali can stay in Bali. But I couldn’t imagine bringing anyone home,” she said.

She also revealed that she has the option of having another baby as there is still some of her late partner’s sperm available.

“I have sperm if I wanted another Chumpy bubba,” she shared. “But I don’t think I will”.

“I do see myself having a baby one day with someone else, maybe in like five years’ time, but I can’t really see myself getting married.”
