A Coles customer has revealed a way Australians can get “free money” thanks to a gift card hack from the major supermarket.
Taylor, from Brisbane, was flipping through a Coles catalogue. It was then she stumbled on an offer.
Customers could buy TCN gift cards for 15 per cent off. TCN gift cards can be used at Rebel Sport, JB Hi-FI, Peter Alexander, Cotton On and Uber.
“It’s kind of like free money,” Taylor said.
“I have $300 to shop with $45 off. They can be used in store or online, so probably a great thing to get now.”
Social media users were stunned.
“Brb……stocking up,” one social media user commented.
One complained: “They are the worst gift cards I would never recommend they are hard to redeem with the online retailers I struggled to use mine.”
“I did this too,” one shared.
Another added: “I brought one for Xmas gift and saved $15 plus I got spend $150 on liquor and get $40 off so Xmas is sorted for us.”
This was a limited time offer, wrapping on November 26 or until stocks last.
Coles executive general manager for CFCs and digital merchandising Jonathan Torr said the supermarket was thrilled to offer discounts ahead of Christmas.
The supermarket still has a variety of offers. Customers can nab five for $50 on selected meat. You can save $15 when you spend $50 on selected pantry products from Campbells, Leggos and Aeroplane Jelly.
From Wednesday, new gift card deals come into play. You get 10 per cent off Celebrations gift cards. These can be used at brands such as The Iconic and JD Sport.
Customers can also save $13 when you purchase a $250, plus $7 purchasing fee, from a Coles MasterCard Gift Card and you swipe your Flybuys.
It comes after Coles recently released the $99 Urbanworx 5-in-1 High Speed Hair Dryer as part of its regular Best Buys sales.
The dryer comes with two drying barrels, two curling barrels and a styling brush, a similarity some shoppers claim make it a “dupe” of the $849 Dyson Airwrap.
Laila Cooke said she spotted it in the special aisle while popping into the supermarket on her lunch break, adding it was a great option for people who “couldn’t justify” splurging on the luxury version.
“Considering I got this from my local supermarket, I am pretty impressed and would recommend,” Ms Cooke said.
