Calls for couple caught ‘having sex’ in busy park to be prosecuted

Footage of a pair who appear unable to keep their hands off each other has gone hugely viral, sparking calls for police to intervene.

A video appearing to show a couple caught having sex in a busy public park has sparked outrage, with many calling for the pair to face criminal charges.

The very viral clip, which has been viewed over 54 million times since it was shared on Monday, shows two unidentified individuals moving suspiciously underneath a black blanket.

While most people in the mood for love would choose a private spot such as their bedroom, this pair got down to business in the midst of a packed public space, with the video showing children playing on scooters and with balls nearby.

“Trying to enjoy a beautiful Sunday afternoon in NYC…” TikTok user @girlsorwomen captioned the confronting scene.

Another clip, which shows the couple from a different spot in the park slightly later on in the day, is even more X-rated.

In this video, the pair seem to be going full throttle under the blanket, leaving many asking: “How do you actually get away with this?”

Social media users have been left furious after the videos went viral, with some calling for police to prosecute the pair for public indecency.

Public sex is illegal in New York City, and is charged as “public lewdness”, according to the New York Post.

Meanwhile in Australia, having sexual intercourse in a public place can amount to the criminal offence of “indecent exposure”.

It’s not clear whether the “blanket couple” have been charged with an offence.

“Why did no one call the cops?” one asked.

“Can’t believe this is in public,” another scathed.

As one raged: “No this is INSANE.”

Others were keen to know what happened once the act was over, questioning whether the pair “ignored the fact everyone was watching”.

“Wait what? No one called the cops with all those kids around,” someone said.

“I need to know did they just casually come out when they were done?” another speculated.

As one reasoned: “That CANT be comfortable.”

Onlookers in real life were just as shocked by the situation, with one video showing a woman covering her mouth in horror, as another visibly made a double take.
