Australia’s ‘hottest’ lollipop lady gets hit on every day at work

A woman who has been dubbed Australia’s “hottest” lollipop lady had shed light on the grim reality of being a female road worker.

I’m Australia’s ‘hottest’ lollipop lady

With her shiny brunette locks, luscious long lashes and bright colourful wardrobe, Anjelica Langton looks nothing like your typical traffic controller.
For the past two years, the 24-year-old has donned her white hard hat, high-vis neon vest and trusty stop sign, before standing out on the roads of Mullumbimby, New South Wales.
The young woman says while she loves the work, she quickly developed a tough skin to deal with the lewd comments and catcalls she cops from drivers while on the job.

Anjelica says she gets on hit on daily and has even been called Australia’s “hottest” lollipop lady – but with her keen sense of humour, has taken it all in her stride.

“I actually got into the job because of my dad, he’s been a traffic controller for nearly 20 years” Anjelica said.
“I really enjoy the work, as I love being outside. It also makes me laugh everyday, and it’s helped me develop a tough skin.
“Everyone who I work with is really lovely and respectful, it’s the drivers passing by that always have things to say.

“I get hit on everyday, people call out all types of things from their cars, they’re always whistling and honking their horns.
“There’s been so many times people have pulled over to give me their numbers or ask if I’m single.
“People have even asked me to come to their house on my lunch break for a cup of tea. That was a bit of a weird one.
“I don’t let it worry me, I find it really funny.

“I’m a strong woman and always stand up for myself if anyone crosses the line, I don’t put up with anything.

“The majority of people are great and I’m always having a good laugh at work.”
Anjelica has been sharing her daily life on the roads on her TikTok channel, where she attracts plenty of comments from people around the world who are surprised at her job.
“Both in person and online, people are often surprised when I tell them what I do for work” she said.
“Sometimes they’ll just look at me and say ‘are you actually a road worker’ and I need to tell them again, they think I’m making it up.
“I think it’s because you don’t see a whole lot of young women out on the roads, doing what I do.”

Anjelica, who also works part-time as a bartender, says she is making surprisingly good money doing what she does, and encourages more women to get into the industry.

“I’d love to see more females out on the roads, it’s certainly male-dominated” she said.
“Sometimes I can be the only woman on the work site, and while everyone is really lovely, it would be amazing to see other females out there.

“It gets you outside in the fresh air and the money is a lot better than what people expect.
“Women can do anything they want, no one can stop us. I absolutely love what I do.
“I’m hoping to eventually go up to the mines, but for now I’m happy out on the roads holding my stop sign.”
