A young Aussie man was on a boys trip in Bali when he was reportedly found unconscious in his hotel room.

Taylor ‘Rocky’ Rockliffe, 26, from Lake Munmorah on NSW’s central coast was holidaying on the popular island with two other friends when he suddenly died a day before he was due to check out of his hotel — Grand Sinar Inda Hotel — in Badung, west of Denpasar.

The 26-year-old was discovered unconscious in his room on Monday by a friend, with the exact circumstances surrounding his death unknown.

It is understood Mr Rockliffe was meant to meet one of his friend’s in the morning as they were booked in to complete their tattoos at a local parlour.

However, after a couple of hours had passed with no sign of Mr Rockliffe, the friend grew worried and asked staff at the hotel to be taken to Mr Rockliffe’s room where they are understood to have found the door unlocked.

“Mr Brayden tried to wake him up but there was no response,” Denpasar Police spokesperson Ketut Sukadi said, the Daily Mail reported.

“He then asked the hotel staff to call the medical team but when they arrived they pronounced Mr Rockliffe dead.”

Local police said there was no sign of violence or a struggle in the room.

A witness who was staying two doors down told the publication the scene erupted into “absolute chaos” with police and crime scene investigators “everywhere”.

“This was f***ing traumatic to witness yesterday, I think I’ve slept three hours since it happened,” she said.

Final post

Mr Rockliffe and his two friends had previously started a lighthearted Instagram page called ‘Three Pigs Roaming’ where they documented their pub trips around rural NSW and more recently, Bali.

The latest post they shared was six days ago with the three friends laying on a sun bed at Finns Beach Club on the popular island’s south coast alongside the eerie caption that read: “three pigs are LIVIN”.

Another post shared earlier this year was of the boys posing out the front of ‘Beach Bum Bar’.

“Well it turns out pigs can fly… we are in Bali soaking up all the sun and giving 110% to the holiday diet and you know there’s only one beach bar we will think about drinking at (sic),” the caption read.

“There is in fact no VBs being served here and we are more than happy about it!!!

“Our good mate knows how to run a real bar. If you are in Bali get down to beach bum bar and get your flex on.”

Heartbroken family

Mr Rockliffe’s heartbroken sister Brie, has since started a GoFundMe page to assist in bringing her brother, who was a local footy player, home.

So far, $64,195 of the $60,000 target has been raised, with donors flooding the page with messages of support and condolences.

“Thinking of you and your family, sincere condolences, and I hope you get your brother back home xx Moni,” one person wrote.

“Our hearts are breaking for you. Love from Auntie Brenda, Melissa, Megan, Jake and families,” another message read.

“I knew Taylor while playing footy. Was a great bloke. Taken too soon. Fly high mate,” said a third.

On Facebook, members from Mr Rockliffe’s rugby league club, the Morisset Bulls, shared a lengthy tribute saying he will be “missed as a player, as a mentor and most of all as a mate”.

“With a broken heart we would like to send our heartfelt condolences to the Rockliffe Family, Yesterday We lost one of the greats,” the post read.

“Your friendship and passion echoed through our 2023 season. To our Bulls Boys & Family, Please look after yourselves at this time and support one another.”

Mr Rockliffe’s sister has also shared several posts and updates on social media, expressing how she and her family never thought in their “wildest dreams” they would be making a public plea to bring Mr Rockliffe home.

“Taylor passed away while on holiday in Bali, never in our wildest dreams did we ever expect this to happen and never did we ever think we would need to do this,” Ms Rockliffe wrote on the GoFundMe page.

“We are extremely desperate and we need help to get Taylor home to us. He needs to be home with his family and friends and he deserves to have a send off surrounded by people he loved so dearly.”

It is understood the grieving parents of Mr Rockliffe have arrived in Bali, and are said to be “overwhelmed” by the outpouring of support they’ve received.

“[Mum and dad] are in disbelief,” Ms Rockliffe posted.

“Our families cannot be more grateful if we tried … it’s a very, very sad time for them right now.

“Look after each other and hug your loved ones so tight.”
