Arkansas jogger allegedly rammed by truck before rape, murder
A woman who didn’t return home after going for a run was found buried in a field after being sexually assaulted and killed.
The man police believe abducted and raped a woman when she was out jogging allegedly rammed her with his truck before sexually assaulting her and burying her body.
Sydney Sutherland, a nurse from Newport in the US state of Arkansas, went missing after heading out for a run on August 19.
Two days later, the 25-year-old’s body was found buried off in a deserted field off a rural road.
Within hours of the grisly discovery, Quake Lewellyn was arrested and charged with capital murder, rape, kidnapping and abuse of a corpse shortly after. Police state he knew the victim.
The 28-year-old farmer is currently in prison after being refused bail where he is awaiting trial, local newspaper Arkansas Online reports.

New horrifying alleged details from the moment Ms Sutherland was abducted and killed have emerged in court documents obtained by the publication.
Lewellyn is believed to have rammed Ms Sutherland with his truck while she was out jogging less than 1.6kms from her home.
The documents also state Lewellyn later joined a community Facebook group set up to help find Ms Sutherland after her sudden disappearance.
During his interview with police, Lewellyn reportedly admitted to ramming Ms Sutherland with his vehicle and driving her to a remote location.
Police say that’s where Lewellyn raped her and buried her.
Her phone was found 3.7km away from her body and detectives were able to place Lewellyn in the “vicinity”, according to the affidavit.
Concern was first sparked for Ms Sutherland by her boyfriend after she failed to return home. Huge efforts were made to find her including three helicopters and locals rallying together to search the area by foot.
Ms Sutherland worked at Unity Health Harris Medical Center and went to Tuckerman High School according to her Facebook page.
Posts made before her death show she helped in the COVID-19 battle and was a fitness fan, regularly sharing motivational photos and memes.
Her sister Summer’s Facebook page shows panicked posts from the time of Ms Sutherland’s disappearance, including screenshots from CCTV footage.
Lewellyn is scheduled to be arraigned on October 29.
