Aldi reveals big change to its trolleys after introducing baskets

It’s something Aldi customers have been complaining about for a while and the German retailer has finally delivered.

It’s a common Aldi shopping dilemma - you’ve got too many items for a basket, but too few for the enormous trolleys the budget supermarket offers.

That’s up until now, with the German retailer confirming it will now introduce smaller trolleys following feedback from customers.

In the past, shoppers have complained about the “enormous” 212-litre trolleys, claiming they’re unpractical for “short people”, the elderly and those who just want to grab a handful of things.

But now Aldi will join the likes of Coles and Woolies by offering half-sized carts.

“We recognise that customers are looking for greater convenience when they visit our stores, as it’s almost impossible not to pick up the excellent value products on offer,” an Aldi spokesperson told news.com.au.

“That’s why we’re introducing smaller trolleys across all our locations, so our customers can more efficiently pick up products while doing smaller grocery shops.”

Shoppers have taken to Facebook to share their excitement over the new addition — with many saying “it’s about time”.

“A smaller trolley! Thank god! When I try and get my groceries out, I have to hang on tight or I go head first into the trolley and have trouble get back on my feet,” one woman joked.

“Well it’s abt time those large trolley are a nightmare especially if your (sic) big chested always is a nightmare trying to reach in to get groceries out and if your short you almost fall in their (sic),” one person wrote.

It comes after the popular discount retailer revealed it will be rolling out baskets across its stores nationwide to help shoppers with their “weekly shop and dash in top-ups”

Aldi made the announcement on its Facebook page in April, much to the delight of its customers.

In April, it also revealed it will have baskets available for its customers.

“Finally!!! Thanks Aldi, now for more room to pack our bag at the checkout would be awesome!!!!” one person wrote.

“And about freakin time! I’m sick of pinching boxes to carry my stuff in,” another added.

Up until recently, Aldi was the only major supermarket to not offer hand baskets for customers in need of just a few items.

An Aldi spokesperson said it understands customers are looking for greater convenience when they visit their stores.

“That’s why we’re introducing shopping baskets across all our locations, so our customers can more efficiently load up on goodies (on and off their intended lists) while doing smaller grocery shops,” the spokesperson told news.com.au at the time.
