Media personality Abbie Chatfield has lashed out at Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, comparing him to a “mediocre boyfriend”.

Ms Chatfield got stuck into the PM on the latest episode of her It’s A Lot podcast, saying her love affair with him was well and truly over.

“When Anthony Albanese was elected into parliament there was a lot of hope,” Ms Chatfield said. “I remember crying from joy when he was elected.

“Anthony Albanese is the mediocre new partner that you have after a really shitty relationship. And I’m sorry, Anthony Albanese. I’ve really had hopes for you my king, but unfortunately, you’ve let us down time and time again.

“And [you] too have succumbed to the f**ked structures of Parliament. Now is not the time to be pandering to male fragility.”

Mr Albanese found himself at the centre of controversy this week, after he declared “I'm the Prime Minister” moments before taking the microphone at a domestic violence rally in Canberra on Sunday.

Once he had the microphone, Mr Albanese said he had not been granted permission to speak to the crowd, a claim the rally organiser Sarah Williams said was a “flat out lie”.

Ms Williams said Mr Albanese had never asked to speak.

On Tuesday, new video circulated that appeared to show Mr Albanese saying, “I’m the Prime Minister, I run this country,” before speaking to the crowd.

Ms Williams was seen crying after the altercation.

This year alone, 29 women have allegedly died at the hands of male violence, according to the Counting Dead Women Project.

Ms Chatfield said Mr Albanese’s speech on Sunday as “tone deaf” and “disrespectful”.

“Regardless of any miscommunications, why is the first thing Anthony Albanese is saying is defending himself as to why he wasn’t there to speak?” she asked.

“I don’t understand why, at a rally for violence against women, our Prime Minister’s going, ‘Um by the way girly-pops um I did try, but someone wouldn’t let me.’

“It’s like calm the f**k down, dude. Also, why are you yelling? I feel like in that environment, it’s not the place for a man to be aggressively and snarkily yelling at women or the organisers of this event. It’s like read the f**king room, dude.”

Ms Chatfield attended the No More rally in Sydney alongside her rumoured new boyfriend, Peking Duk band member Adam Hyde.

Images of Ms Chatfield’s demeanour at the rally appeared to reflect how tens of thousands of Aussie women feel right now — tired, sad, angry, distraught, helpless and enraged.
