Abbie Chatfield reveals the truth about a famous celebrity hot spot
Abbie Chatfield has revealed the truth about a very famous Aussie celebrity hot spot.
Byron Bay is known as the celebrity hot spot of Australia, but Abbie Chatfield has claimed it isn’t the oasis you think it is.
The NSW beach location that counts Chris Hemsworth as a local, and movie star Matt Damon as a regular tourist, has been called out by the famous influencer.
The spot is known for its expensive retreats, beach vibes, celebrity visitors and boujee hippy vibes.
You know people wear maxi skirts but often have lots of superannuation.
It is also where influencers like to frequent and get very photos of themselves posing in bikinis with an idyllic backdrop.
In recent years, it’s been hit with a Hemsworth effect; Australia’s most famous movie star put it on the map, and big celebrities like Zac Efron are often spotted popping in.
It is expensive to visit, beautiful to photograph, and often appears on people’s Instagram feeds.
Chatfield, 28, purchased a million-dollar house just outside of Bryon Bay in 2021 after her successful vibrator range with Vush, and yet she’s not actually impressed with the location.
The local explained on her podcast It’s A Lot that while it has the reputation for having the most beautiful beaches in Australia, she thinks that perception is completely delusional.
“Everyone acts like Byron has the nicest beaches in the world. Have you been to Perth, Tamarama, or literally anywhere else in Australia?” She asked.
Chatfield said that while the community is great and the people there are beautiful, she draws the line by pretending it is the most beautiful place in Australia.
“No, they are not, sorry!” She said.
The influencer took things one step further and said it wasn’t the perfect “chill” location to unwind in either.
“You can’t chill! Sorry, there’s no Ubers, no reception and everything closes at 2pm,” she pointed out.
Chatfield also said that if you’re after a good facial in Byron Bay, you’ll leave completely disappointed and, worst case scenario, be stuck with ineffective turmeric on your face.
“Give me a needle in my face,” she joked.
She said the celebrity hotspot used to be very “chill” and had “quaint” vibes, but it wasn’t the same anymore.
“I think everyone goes there because they think Byron is what it used to be, and actually it is just fine,” she said.
Chatfield’s Byron revelation comes after she confessed she’s been going through a difficult break-up.
While the successful creator didn’t name the man she was with, she did hint that he was a public figure by joking that people shouldn’t date anyone they could watch YouTube clips of when they were trying to get over them.
“I haven’t cared about a break-up properly in five years – sorry to everyone in the past five years – but, like I haven’t cried about a break-up or missing someone this much in a very long time,” she confessed on her podcast.
She said the relationship’s demise was particularly brutal because she didn’t know if it was over for good.
“It’s a thing where it’s like, we might get back together, which is the worst kind of one,” she said.
