Customers resonating with Kmart’s ‘low price, high value’ products

An $8 item from a major retailer has a chokehold on social media, with it quickly becoming a “customer favourite”.

Kmart launched its Single Inflatable Chair in October. However, it was a clip from one TikTok user who declared “the early 2000s were back” thanks to the $8 item that really caught the attention of customers.

“Takes me back to primary school when I said that my house when I moved out would be entirely inflatable furniture,” one social media user declared.

Another said: “All we need is the inflatable bubble backpacks that match.”

One social media user revealed they had the chairs when they first moved out of home.

“Honestly, imagine the struggle of trying to get out of one of those in your 30s,” one added.

Another commented: “OMG when my mum said I couldn’t have one and had to settle for a blow up rubbish bin bahahah.”

“Oh my gooooddddddd I’m almost 40 and I had the pink one but it was way better with arm rests when I was 17,” another social media user said.

Another added: “Take all of my adult money the pre teen in me is screaming.”

Others said they wished that they’d kept their original sets.

A Kmart spokesperson said the item has proved to be incredibly popular.

“The Single Inflatable Chair launched in October as part of our Summer program and has quickly become a customer favourite, perfect for outdoor adventures and camping trips,” a Kmart spokesperson told news.com.au.

“With Y2K nostalgia trending, we are seeing a lot of products in this style making a strong resurgence.”

It comes as another nostalgic item became the department stores’ most popular item in 2024.

TikTok went wild for Kmart’s apparel and beauty products trended on social, but nothing could beat one particular family favourite, a Kmart spokesperson told news.com.au.

The 50 cent Mega Bubble Wand skyrocketed to become the number one product of the year.

With a five-star rating online, it’s clear customers loved this kids’ toy.

“These are the best ones I’ve bought,” said one review. “It goes a long way”.
