$139 Bunnings item sparks huge frenzy

A brand new item from the hardware giant has triggered an unexpected shopping rush as customers race to secure the 'Barbie-inspired' creation.

A festive “Barbie” item is going viral on social media, thanks to the hype around its bright pink colour.

Bunnings released the Mirabella Pink Malibu Pre-Lit Christmas tree for $139 and it quickly caught the attention of shoppers.

Eloise, who posts on TikTok under the name @eloiseaimeebecker_, shared footage of the 2.1 metre tree on the shelves.

“Barbie Christmas tree,” she captioned the video.

“Girls, run, don’t walk, to Bunnings.”

Social media users had a lot to say about the tree — including the growing trend of pink ornaments at places such as Bunnings, Adairs and Kmart.

“OK this is actually cool,” one person commented.

“I need it! I love pink everything,” said another.

Although others weren’t into the craze.

“I’ll walk in the opposite direction,” one said.

“Am I the only one who hates the pink Christmas theme,” someone else commented.

Another social media user asked: “It’s literally the 13th of October why are yall so obsessed with Christmas being so early.”

“After seeing all the pink trees in comments I really want one! Except im more the goth type of person and it doesn’t feel right plus I already have three trees in my garage and if I get a fourth, my husband may leave me,” someone weighed in.

“This is a need not a want,” another said.

One commented: “Wow so pretty will definitely be buying.”

Meanwhile Bunnings advertised it as perfect for all the “Showgirls” out there, inspired by Taylor Swift’s latest album.

A Bunnings spokesperson revealed that the bold tree has proven to be incredibly popular with customers.

“We might be known for green at Bunnings, but we’re not surprised Aussies are loving our Pink Malibu Christmas tree just as much as we do. It’s big, bold and will be the main character of any holiday set up,” a spokesperson told news.com.au.

“Full of personality, it puts a fresh spin on festive decorating, proving there’s no one way to do Christmas.”

It’s not the first time that Bunnings has released a pink Christmas tree, advertising the Mirabella Coco Pre-Lit Pink Christmas tree on social media last year.

“This tree is soooo pretty,” one social media user said.

Another asked if the tree would be returning for the 2025 Christmas period.

“It looks like fairy floss this is so cute,” one added.

Another social media user commented: “I want to get this for my daughters room.”
