IN an incredible display of human spirit, more and more passers-by heed a call to eventually lift a bus off a man trapped and screaming underneath.
Pedestrian Chang Suibin was screaming in agony with his hip stuck behind the front wheel of the bus after being hit and knocked down by the bus in Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan Province, which lies in east-central China on Friday.
Local police officer Tang Xiaoqi who was on patrol in the area was reportedly first on the scene and waved for people to help the rescue effort, China Central Television reported.
“People nearby, passengers from the bus and pedestrians waiting at the traffic lights by this intersection all came together to lift the bus. We failed at first, but then more people joined in — some lifting and some pulling the victim — and eventually we got him out,” Tang told CCTV+.
Amazing footage was uploaded to CCTV+’s YouTube page.
It took three minutes for more than 20 people to lift up the bus and get Chang Suibin freed. He suffered a fractured pelvis and was taken to hospital.
However, he was able to pay tribute to his rescuers.
“My sincere thanks to everybody, to the friends, to the kind-hearted people of Zhengzhou ... Good people can be found everywhere in our society.”
