Man gives free haircuts to the homeless hoping to inspire others to give back
SOMEONE give this man a medal. One hairdresser is changing the locks - and lives - of homeless people. And he’s hoping his charitable act catches on.
SOMEONE give this man a medal.
Joshua Coombes is a hairdresser based in London who gives homeless people haircuts, free of charge, helping to boost their confidence.
The former musician started cutting hair five years ago and noticed that a little tender-loving care can really boost one’s self-assurance — and that’s exactly want he wants to do for these people living on the streets.
When someone sits down for a haircut, Coombes is able to chat with them on a human level and really get an understanding of that person’s life. With help from his friend, photographer Matt Spracklen, these special moments are captured and posted on Instagram.
Joshua hopes to inspire others to give back and has launched a #DoSomethingForNothing campaign with friend, Spracklen and Be Social Global CEO Dave Burt.
Coombes is putting his noble dream into action on July 9 with a day of giving back in London.
“If everyone, in every city, did one thing for nothing, we could change the world. We’re not raising awareness, we’re raising compassion. We’re not calling people out, we’re calling you in, to love on your communities, all over the world.” Word.
