MATHEW Flores is 12 years old and loves to read.

But the young boy didn’t have any books of his own so he would pick up anything he could get his hands on.

Ron Lynch, a postman from Salt Lake City, recently came across Mathew digging through a junk mail bin and pulling out whatever he could get his hands.

When Mathew spotted Mr Lynch he asked him if he had any junk mail he could have to read as he didn’t have any books couldn’t get to the library because his family didn’t have a car and couldn’t afford to catch a bus.

The Postman was understandably moved by the boy’s plight.

So Mr Lynch spurred into action. He put up a single Facebook post with Mathew’s picture and a call to action for people to donate books.

‘He’s counting on me, so I’m counting on you’ he wrote in the post that has now gone viral and resulted in a flurry of books from around the world being donated to Mathew.

The post was shared more than 4000 times, and hundreds upon hundreds of books are still flowing in.

Facebook has since deleted the post, but Mr Lynch said the post has already sparked plenty of good deeds.

“It’s gone crazy from there. I’ve heard from the UK, Australia, from India,” Mr Lynch told

“I’m just super happy,” he said.
