April Fool’s Day 2015 has been full of pranks, some better than others. Let’s start with the tech companies who clearly have too much time on their hands as we make them ridiculously rich.
Samsung announced the world’s first smart knife with smartphone capabilities, the Galaxy BLADE edge.
“Running on the latest OS, the Galaxy BLADE edge comes with all the incredible features of the Galaxy S6, but its edge is so sharp and strong that the device can also serve as a chef’s knife. In fact, the Galaxy BLADE edge could very well render all the knives in your kitchen obsolete.”

Google launched a number of April Fool’s Day pranks. We think this is the best. It’s the Smartbox, “a better, smarter mailbox that fuses physical mail with everything you love about the electronic kind.”
Without any introduction, here is another of Google’s April Fool’s Day pranks this year.
Malaysian communications company Maxis launched Screen Savour, a transparent cover for your phone that can be licked to sample the taste of food that you photograph on your smartphone.
Actor Ashton Kutcher went on Facebook to announce what many of us have wanted for years. His prank was met with nearly 166,000 ‘likes’ and shared more than 45,000 times.
Hotter than hot openly gay singer Sam Smith surprised with the following Tweet:

And Kanye West find time to be break away from Kim Kardashian and become almost humble.

Band One Direction still dominate social media and to keep attention of the departed Zayn Malik, #HarryGotArrested started trending on Twitter. Gasp! Harry Styles of 1D? Among his “crimes” was “being too handsome.”
Finally in the reals of entertainment, the heavy metal band Tool, who are known for April 1 pranks, announced that the music for a new album was being stolen by another band and they weren’t happy.
Selfies, of course, were popular for an April Fool’s prank.
Vehicle maker Honda announced the all-new HR-V Selfie Edition. “With 10 cameras across the interior and exterior, the HR-V Selfie Edition allows drivers to snap self-portraits while the car is in park.”
This one had us laughing. Footwear giants Miz Mooz launched the Selfie Shoes and launched the Twitter hashtag #shoefie.
This did not go down too well. Greater Manchester Police in Radcliffe, England, had to offer an apology after this:

Sylvia Lancaster, whose daughter Sophie was battered to death in 2007 for being a goth, branded the tweet “warped”, The Sun reported
“It’s a bit silly really, and shows a bit of a warped sense of humour,” she said, adding she would ask for the tweet removed.
“Unfortunately these things happen — but people just need to put their brains in gear. I’m sure this person didn’t even realise that they were being offensive.”
Barclaycard, the UK’s major credit card, announced Barclaycard Anything. “Bring us your flip-flops, a teapot, or even a baby carrier, and we’ll turn it into a simple and secure way to pay.”
Clean Masters announced the Cube, which using magnetic levitation technology, can easily move around the house like a graceful ballerina and vacuum. And, of course, you can tell it what to do.
Pot Noodle announced a car air freshener, replicating the smells of all its favourite pot noodles.

English Premier League football club Arsenal said it was testing a new ball for left-footers and in Italy the women’s weekly Grazia said Prince William’s wife Kate had given birth to a baby girl and named her “Diana”.
The high-brow science journal Nature announced a fake study saying that global warming could cause hibernating dragons to awake.
The Economist’s Espresso app reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had the chance to resolve the conflict in Ukraine by answering Petro Poroshenko’s offer of a judo match while Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis wanted to arm wrestle Germany’s Angela Merkel.
Italy’s Leaning Tower of Pisa is to be turned into a luxury hotel, said The Daily Telegraph UK, with tourist visits limited to two hours a day.
“They’re taking the Pisa,” local tour guide Mia Falova was quoted as saying.
In Greece, where the government is locked in negotiations with its EU-IMF creditors, a news portal reported that the country could adopt Bitcoin as its official currency instead of the euro.
Greek Reporter said the plan was the personal brainchild of the country’s maverick Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis.
The portal said Varoufakis “surprised even his closest aides at a secret meeting when he said ‘we’ve had enough, we’ll run on Bitcoin’.” Launched in 2009 by a mysterious computer programmer, bitcoin is a form of e-money that offers a largely anonymous payment system and can be stored either virtually or on a user’s hard drive.
Supermarket chain Tesco announced it was to install trampolines in the aisles to help customers reach the top shelves.
Perhaps we have saved the best to last.
Israel Defence Forces, one would image fairly busy, announced it had stopped an alien invasion.
“Several months ago a flock of alien spaceships were on their way to invade the planet when advanced Israeli radar systems identified them. It was then up to the technological unit of the Israeli Air Force to thwart the dangerous alien invasion by infiltrating the main spaceship’s technological systems and attacking them from within. The soldiers only had 12 hours to hack the systems, gather intelligence and stop the aliens.”
Finally, Swedish news site Nyheter 24 said that the ice hotel in Lapland was changing its name to the Snow Star or “SS Hotel” because its name in Swedish — Ishotellet — sounded too much like IS (Islamic State).
