Sex podcast hosts caught in bitter feud

A raunchy podcast detailing the explicit sex lives of its two female hosts has become embroiled in a bitter public feud.

Sofia Franklyn, 27, and Alexandra Cooper, 26, present Call Her Daddy, a self-described “uncensored, real, female locker room talk” show which centres around their “crazy” love lives in New York.

The podcast was acquired by Barstool Sports – a blokey media company in the US – about a month after their duo’s first episode aired and has been a roaring success ever since.

Under its wing, the weekly show has earned hundreds of thousands of loyal subscribers who’ve dubbed Franklyn and Cooper their “fathers” thanks to the X-rated advice they dish out.

The friends – who were unknown when they started back in 2018 – have enjoyed instant success, both earning powerful influencer statuses with around 1 million followers each.

However things took a sudden turn recently, descending into a bitter public brawl that came to a dramatic climax earlier this week.

The former BFFs have fallen out over what started as a bid to demand more money from Barstool following the show’s success.

Despite engaging in negotiations, the three parties appear to have been unable to reach an agreement, and as a result no new episodes of Call Her Daddy have aired since April 8.

That all changed on Sunday when Barstool’s founder, David Portnoy, posted his own episode of the show, branding the hosts “unprofessional, disloyal and greedy”.

He discussed at length an “awesome deal” he claims was on the table, which consisted of increasing their annual salary from $75,000 to $500,000 (USD) and slashing six months off their contract.

But he states that while Cooper was happy to accept the new offer, he alleges Franklyn -driven by her boyfriend, a 38-year-old executive known only as “Suitman” – refused the offer and began shopping the podcast around to competitors.

Cooper yesterday confirmed the women were no longer on speaking terms, posting a 34-minute video on YouTube tilted ‘The Truth about Call Her Daddy’, in which she claims her former friend and co-host “sabotaged” the deal.

Franklyn also spoke out in a video posted to IGTV, in which in which she said she felt “betrayed” by Cooper for going behind her back to negotiate with Barstool, but it has since been deleted.

A 15 second snippet of it still currently remains on her Twitter feed.

Now the future of the podcast is up in the air and it is unclear whether Franklyn, Cooper and Barstool will be able to resolve the issue.

The official Call Her Daddy Instagram appears to allude to the fact Cooper will be taking reins of the show solo, having recently changed the “hosted by” details to just Alexandra Cooper, adding “cancel Suitman” – a dig at Franklyn’s mystery media-connected boyfriend.

Portnoy also this week announced new merchandise for the show emblazoned with the same phrase.

In the meantime, fans have been weighing in on the feud using the hashtag “#freethefathers”, with many laying into Barstool’s owner.

Others have expressed disappointment in discovering the women’s salaries after following their lives for the last two years, which regularly referred to them being “broke” and living in New York.

Whatever side people have taken, it’s clear they are all waiting with the popcorn to see what happens next in the messy saga.
