Canberra mum shocked to find parking fine paid by kind stranger
WHEN an exhausted mum came out of hospital with her baby and found a parking ticket on her car, she thought she’d break down. But then she saw the other note.
KINDNESS, it seems, comes in many forms — and at the most unexpected of times.
When a Canberra mother who had just spent days in hospital with her baby son walked out to her car, she was dismayed to find a parking ticket attached to her windscreen.
But before the shock of the situation set in, she spied another slip of paper — a little pink post-it note that, on any other day, would have drawn little attention.
Yet, at that moment, it proved that the world was, in fact, filled with good Samaritans.
“Hi there,” it began.

Included on the note was also a BPay receipt number.
The Canberra mother, overwhelmed by the stranger’s generosity, immediately took to the Facebook group Canberra Mums to write her own note of thanks.
“Over the past few days I have been in hospital with my 9-week-old son.
“We were discharged today and as I walked to my car I noticed that I had a parking ticket. After those days in hospital, a parking ticket was one more thing that I didn’t need.
“Well, to my surprise, when I opened the envelope, there was a note from a lovely lady named Laura.
“I hope that Laura sees this and knows how much I appreciate her support.
Thank you so much”.
The post has since gone viral, gathering more than 17,000 ‘likes’. It was also shared more than 1000 times.
Heartened Facebook users have praised Laura and her act of kindness, calling her an “angel” and saying there was a spot for her in “heaven”.
