BEAK HOUR: Duck duck on the loose on a Sydney motorway

Five little ducks went out one day, over the Hills Motorway. The result was chaos for commuters.

FIVE little ducks (oh, ok, it was seven when their parents tagged along) stepped out today. Onto the Hills Motorway.

The result was chaos for 'beak hour' commuters in north western Sydney.

The ducklings and their parents weaved in and out of city bound traffic for over 1km at around 8:45am today, causing delays of up to 40 minutes while cars, buses and trucks tried desperately to avoid the quacky creatures.

Transport Management spokesperson Kristen Forbes said she has never heard of anything like it.

"They were running in and out of city bound traffic on the busy M2, causing huge delays".

But sadly the story doesn't have a happy ending. When mother duck called out "quack quack quack quack" only 4 little ducks came back. *

* News.com.au can confirm the safety of four little ducklings and the two adult ducks. Unfortunately we understand that one little duck did not make it home.
