Adelaide couples find deadly surprise inside garden hose reel
AN ADELAIDE couple made a shocking discovery over the weekend after noticing that their garden hose wasn’t retracting back into the reel.
THIS is definitely the last thing you want to find when doing your Sunday afternoon gardening.
An Adelaide couple made an unexpected and unpleasant discovery over the weekend after noticing that their garden hose wasn’t retracting back into the reel.
They quickly found the problem — a huge eastern brown snake had decided their hose was the perfect spot for a Sunday afternoon nap and he wasn’t planning on moving.
The couple enlisted the help of a snake catcher, with a video of the risky removal being posted on the Snake Catchers Adelaide Facebook page.
The slippery squatter was eventually persuaded out of its hiding spot, with the catcher picking it up by the tail before it could escape and putting it in a black bag ready to relocate.
Commenters were quick to express their horror at the surprise find.
“That’s so big! I would have a heart attack if this was in my backyard,” one person said.
Others voiced their concerns over their own hose reels not retracting and wondered if they also had an unwanted guest.
Breeding season for eastern brown snakes is coming to an end and residents are being warned that there will be a rise in the number of snakes over the coming weeks as eggs begin to hatch.
