HOW would you feel if you found out your child was giving away thousands of dollars of your money to people on the street?

Well that is exactly what a 13-year-old boy in Germany has done.

A teenager has been caught handing out thousands of euros in his southern German hometown, all in an attempt to make new friends.

The local police of Bad Tölz, Bavaria responded to reports of a teenager giving away cash to other youngsters of amounts up to $3,744 (€2,400) per person, according to European news channel euronews .

By the time police tracked down the teenager, he had reportedly already handed out a total of around $15,724 (€10,500), which he had taken from his family home, unbeknown to his parents.

The 13-year-old told authorities the reason he was giving away money was so the other kids would like him, with many of the beneficiaries being from his local football club.

Police say that $6,739 (€4,500) of the money has been returned but the rest of what was handed out, an estimate of $8985 (€6,000), remains unaccounted for.

Authorities are urging the other recipients of the boy’s “generosity” to come forward and hand in the money.
