‘No apology’: Horror as German Shepherd mauled by two unleashed dogs in Maddington

A German shepherd was left limping and bleeding in a sudden attack by two loose dogs. The owner’s reaction left witnesses stunned.

'No apology ' Horror as unleashed dogs maul German Shepherd.

A Perth woman’s German shepherd was left limping and bleeding in a vicious attack by two unleashed dogs, before the alleged owners drove off without a word.

Olive Miralles Garcia said she was walking her two-year-old female German shepherd, Yuki, at Peace Park in Maddington on Sunday afternoon when the attack happened.

Yuki was “calmly walking on a leash” and then she was “suddenly attacked by two unleashed dogs,” Ms Garcia wrote online.

Video appeared to show the moment one of the loose dogs bit down on Yuki’s neck and shook her while a frantic Ms Garcia, who also had her husky on another leash, tried to separate them.

A woman in jeans, apparently the dogs’ owner, pulled one of the loose dogs away while a bystander ran in to help.

“Our dogs had no chance to defend themselves,” Ms Garcia wrote.

“It was heartbreaking to see them in such distress - and even more upsetting that the owners of the attacking dogs simply put their dogs in their car and drove away.

“No apology, no concern, not even a single word to check if our dogs were okay.”

She had a simple message for the owner of the loose dogs.

“Please, as a fellow dog owner, you should know that leashing your dogs in public spaces is not only responsible but necessary to keep others safe.

“What if it had been a child or an innocent person instead of our dogs? Peace Park is meant to be a safe place for kids, families, and pets - not a place of fear or danger.

“This incident has been reported to the Rangers for proper action, because you cannot simply walk away from your responsibility - not only for hurting our dog, but for being an irresponsible dog owner whose negligence could endanger others.”

Ms Garcia said she was thankful to her neighbours who rushed to help, recorded the video of the incident, and helped her bring her dogs safely home.

Yuki went home limping and bleeding with wounds and bite marks. Both Yuki and the husky were recovering at home, but the “emotional toll remains heavy”.

Ms Garcia’s updates on social media infuriated Aussies, who argued the attacking dogs should never have been roaming free.

“There are way too many irresponsible dog owners out there, not only walking off lead but also failing to secure them properly in their homes,” one said.

“Both dogs need to be found and declared dangerous dogs and muzzled and leashed,” another fumed.
