People think my baby name sounds like 'orgy' but I think it's unique and cute

"She clearly wants her child to be brutally bullied in the schoolyard. Like bullying isn’t hard enough to avoid as a kid - this is ASKING for trouble!"

People think my baby name sounds like Orgy

Choosing a name for your child is one of the most important decisions you'll make as a parent - at least before they're born.

But it's definitely a decision that can impact your child's life as they grow up too.

Like whether or not they will be relentlessly teased in school because their name sounds something similar to group sex...

"I love feminine names for boys"

A mum-to-be, Ailie, has shared her list of potential baby names on TikTok and while they're all a little out-of-the-box, one particular name has caught viewers' attention.

She begins the clip, which has 31.1k likes: "So my baby name list is strong and now that we're coming to the pointy end of the pregnancy, I've started to refine it.

"But I thought I would share the other names on the list because they're too good not to share. *chefs kiss*

"It's been years in the making."

Starting off with her potential boy names, she says she contemplated the name "Rou."

"It's French," she says casually.

Next, she explains that the following name has been on her list forever. "I for sure thought I was going to use it. But four years ago I started an underwear line and called it the name of my future baby. I thought, it's fine, I'll still use it."

And that name is 'Augie' pronounced like 'orgy.'

If you haven't watched the clip yet, watch it now and start one minute in. We'll wait.

......

She pronounces it more like 'org-i', not 'or-ghee' but STILL - it's too similar to be a name!!

The fact that the auto-captions on TikTok wrote it as "orgy" speaks for itself.

Imagine people trying to spell it!

"Is that with an O, or...?"

"No, it's like August."

EVERY TIME.

And imagine kids at school being like, "Hey Orgi, can we join you?!"

Ailie doesn't seem phased by it at all and just says, "I love feminine names for boys."

Some of her other boy names included: 'Abbe' pronounced Abby, Margot and Clo.

Girl names include Maggie and Agnes.

"They would need counselling for life"

Despite the colourful list of names, most people did single out Augie and tear the name apart.

One viewer told Kidspot: "If that child was called Augie, they would be in counselling for LIFE."

Another said: "She clearly wants her child to be brutally bullied in the schoolyard. Like bullying isn’t hard enough to avoid as a kid - this is ASKING for trouble!"

"Oh gawd, you just know that kid is going to get teased for his entire adolescent life. Better teach him how to spell as soon as he's out of the womb mum..." joked another.

And this person said: "I played that three times to see if I misheard her... I'm sorry but I think someone needs to tell her naming your child after a sex act is not a vibe."

"Parents who name their kid something that they think sounds cool or chic never think about the real-world implications," said another.

Luckily she didn't decide to go with it then!

However, someone in the comments did, saying, "Oh we’re naming our boy Augie 🥰"
