‘People say I’m lazy, but I think life’s too short for laundry’

Mum-of-four’s washing hack divides the internet. Do you think she’s a genius or totally crazy?

When you’ve got kids and a partner, laundry takes up a big part of your week.

We’re talking hours spent sorting, washing, pegging clothes on the line and folding.

Not to mention the mental space used up watching the weather for a sunny day so you can dry your washing outside.

My husband thinks that him taking out the rubbish is an equal trade-off and I’m here to say, it is not.

Tiffany has four kids, and the clever mum has devised a plan to remove at least one of the laundry steps from her workload.

Some say she’s genius, others call her lazy.

But her TikTok video has nearly one million views, so clearly people are interested in pretty much any hack that allows us to do less laundry.

Tiffany’s hack? She doesn’t fold anything. But there's method to this time-saving madness.

Mum's genius laundry hack called lazy

“Alright so I was called lazy for doing this but I think it’s genius,” she said in a TikTok as she pulled washing out of the dryer.

“As you can see, I have bins behind me. Each bin belongs to a different person in my family,” she continued, indicating a collection of large clear plastic tubs and laundry baskets.

“I just take things directly out of the dryer and toss them in the bin for the person they belong to.”

This would be the point where most people would fold all the items in the bins, but not Tiffany.

“I bring it up to their room, put it in more baskets that are in cube shelves, without folding them, and move on with my life.”

It’s so simple, yet totally clever.

Mum’s laundry hack goes viral

Many followers loved the hack.

“I’m going to start doing this because laundry is a never-ending story,” one person said.

“I approve of this message… life is too short,” another wrote.

But not everyone thought Tiffany’s strategy was a good one. What about creased clothing?

“I wouldn’t be able to handle everyone being in wrinkled clothes all the time,” said one person.

“Couldn’t do it… I’m already having nightmares about the wrinkles,” said another.

One woman weighed in to say that wrinkles weren’t an issue.

“As an adult who doesn’t fold, I just stuff it in the drawer, and I think it’s genius,” she said. “My clothes aren’t wrinkled either. Props to you.”

Another woman said that Tiffany could get the kids involved when they’re old enough.

“I do this but each kid brings their own basket up and puts their own clothes away and brings back the basket,” she said.
