A RAGING tornado gave a teenage couple from Wray, Colorado a formal night photo to remember.

Ali Marintzer and her boyfriend Charlie Bator were posing in the backyard before their school dance at Wray High School on Saturday when a monster twister struck nearby.

The young pair, realising they were a safe distance from the tornado which was moving in the opposite direction, decided to pose for a snapshot in front of the storm.

Meanwhile, the tornado was tearing up powerlines on the outskirts of town, approximately 5km from their homes, providing one seriously dramatic backdrop.

Ms Marintzer also made sure to get a selfie with the tornado in the background to share on social media. Unsurprisingly, it went off.

The school dance wasn’t cancelled, but was delayed by about 45 minutes to make sure everyone was safe, Ms Marintzer told KMGH.

NBC News reported that several tornadoes touched down in eastern Colorado on Saturday, resulting in at least five people suffering minor injuries. Several buildings were also damaged.
