School leavers’ celebrations have been rocked by a sex scandal after a public incident involving two teenagers went viral on social media.

Explicit footage – which is too graphic to publish – quickly spread across social media showing a man and woman having sex at a Schoolies event in Dunsborough, Western Australia.

The pair were filmed being intimate up against a metal barrier at a silent disco – run by police and the state government.

The footage shows the couple in the very compromising position, under harsh floodlights, as a group of event officials approach to separate them.

WA Police said the students were kicked out of the event by security.

WA Premier Roger Cook later said “these things happen from time to time at Leavers”, according to The West Australian.

“The information I have is that people were trying to supervise those kids to make sure that they behaved themselves,” he said.

“They’ve done their exams. They’re ready to party. We understand that.

“I understand from time to time that people’s energies get a bit high. But we need to understand also that there is appropriate behaviour in these sorts of situations.”

The footage was seen by hundreds of thousands of people on social media before being taken down, but now dozens of leavers – even some volunteers – are posting their reactions to the incident.

A number of leavers posted videos of them vising the scene of “the corner incident” to social media, while others seemed impressed by the pair’s brazen move.

Two members of security even got in on the joke, filming two volunteers acting distraught – one leaning against the fence, the other rocking himself in the foetal position on the grass – in the corner where the couple were caught.

Yet, despite the shock, memes, and mocking that the pair got, WA Liberal leader Libby Mettam said the government had questions to answer.

“It is disappointing this behaviour has been able to occur in what the State Government has been promoting for months as a well-controlled, safe zone in which teenagers can celebrate,” she said, per the West Australian.

“I’m sure many parents will be asking questions about whether security was adequate and I hope the Government will be doing the same.”
