Dad ‘forced daughter to cut off all her hair’ after mum let her get highlights

A MUM claims her daughter was forced to chop off her hair as punishment by her father after he discovered that she had been treated to new highlights for her birthday.

A TEENAGER has undergone three dramatic hairstyle changes in just a week — after a spat between her parents spiralled out of control.

Kelsey from Fostoria, Ohio, was pictured with glamorous highlights from a birthday salon trip with her mum on Sunday, The Sun reports.

But mum Christin Johnson says that Kelsey’s dad made her get her long locks chopped off as a punishment when she went to a visit him.

Posting the dramatic before and after pictures on Facebook last Wednesday, she wrote: “This is what my daughter looked like Sunday when I took her home and the other two pics is what happened today before she was brought to me.

“All over me having highlights put in her hair for her birthday!”

The second picture shows Kelsey with an extremely short hair cut, and in a third she hides her face away from the camera, apparently in dismay.

Christin believes Kelsey’s dad Schaffen Frederick, and stepmum, Sarah Murray ordered for her hair to be shorn as punishment for the dye.

Speaking to Fox8, Haskins Police Chief Colby Carroll said Ms Johnson had told them her daughter had been made to get the haircut as punishment.

The hair saga did not end there, with mum Christin then taking her daughter to a salon in Ohio to get a black wig and posting posed group shots including Kelsey with her bold new do.

The mum has even started a Facebook page Team Kelsey, which has attracted 8,000 likes, and a GoFundMe page which has since been shut down.

The public battle between the parents has divided social media users.

Daniel Stuart wrote: “So putting her on Facebook, all over Facebook, is okay?

“This mother only added to the embarrassment. Shame on all the parties involved! Even mom!”

And Dawn Clark added: “The damage done to this child should be questioned!

“There’s nothing wrong with the highlights, there’s nothing wrong with a mother pampering her child on her birthday but what is wrong is when two adults physically, emotionally and mentally abuse a child for no other reason then they just felt like it”.

In contrast, Sherlie Kay Melanson was full of praise for the family, writing to Kelsey: “You’re beautiful!!

“I’m so sorry you had to go through this. I pray this makes you stronger instead of breaking you, dear girl.”
