Abigail Hernandez, 15, missing for nine months back with mother in New Conway, New Hampshire

THIS 15-year-old girl who mysteriously went missing after leaving school nine months ago has been reunited with her mother. But where has she been?

Missing teen returns home, reunited with family

“TODAY we are the happiest people on earth,” said the mother of a fifteen-year-old girl who has been missing since leaving school nine months ago.

Abigail Hernandez was last seen leaving Kennett High School in North Conway, New Hampshire, in the US on October 9 last year.

New Hampshire Attorney General’s office announced today that Abigal has been found and reunited with her mother. No mention was made on where Abigal has been for nine months.

The Bring Abby Home website proclaimed that Abby is home safe with her mother and sister. Only the day before a fresh appeal was made for her whereabouts. A $60,000 reward was offered.

Her disappearance gravely concerned the town of 2300 residents who were reminded of the still-unsolved killing of another young girl from rural New Hampshire three years ago.

Eleven-year-old Celina Cass disappeared from her West Stewartstown home in July 2011 and her body was recovered a week later in the Connecticut River, My Fox Boston reported.

For days rescuers carefully looked through the heavily forested terrain that surrounds Hernandez’s home. Police also searched by air, stopped traffic and handed out missing posters and used boats on the Saco River and Pudding Pond.

However police consistently said they have no evidence to suggest anything suspicious had happened to her and were treating her disappearance as a missing-person’s case.

Foster declined to say where Abby had been, pending the results of authorities’ ongoing investigation.

Associate Attorney General Jane Young said the idea that Abigail was ever alone, however, is incomprehensible.

“This was a 14-year-old who went missing for nine months. She did not do this on her own,” Young told WMUR, citing Abigail’s age when she first went missing. “This is still a child. This child did not have the ability to survive on her own.”

Two months after her disappearance, police did reveal that her mother received a letter in the mail written by Abby and postmarked a week after she vanished.

Authorities would not say what the letter said but confirmed that the teen wrote it.
