Woman claps back at trolls who said having a baby at 20 would ‘destroy her’
A woman who had her son when she was 20 has criticised those who made negative comments back when she announced she was pregnant.
A woman who unexpectedly fell pregnant at the age of 20 has hit back at trolls who said she’d “ruined her life”.
Chelsea Ruby, who lives between the UK and Marbella, Spain, took to TikTok and shared a post captioned: “To young mums out there, have faith. To those who said life was over, this is for you.”
In the short clip, Chelsea, who was working abroad when she fell pregnant, shared some of the negative comments she received after announcing the news, The Sun reports.
They included: “You’re too young – get rid”, “You aren’t ready for a baby”, “It will destroy you”, and “Your life is over.”
In the video, she then said: “Reginald was born when I was 20 and I never realised the journey we were about to go on.
“When he was two, I sold everything and spent the next few years backpacking around the world,” she says.
“We travelled Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, Florida.
“We swam with whale sharks in the Philippines and visited islands most dream of.”
She also went on to say how the pair backpacked whole south coast of Europe.
She added: “There is no right time – I’m proof. Six years on my son has been to 18 countries and counting. Blessed!”
It wasn’t long before the comments section was inundated with praise for the young mum.
“This is just mother-son relationship goals,” said one.
A second commented: “Inspirational. I got teary-eyed watching this.”
A third wrote: “He will forever be grateful for having a mum like you. You are amazing.”
Meanwhile, another said: “This gives me hope. I’m 22 with a six-year-old and everyone’s told me to give up my dreams of travelling the world.”
Another added: “Can’t believe people said 20 was too young; age doesn’t define ability to be a parent!”
